NRA Basic Instructor Training (BIT) (6-Hours)
Prerequisites: Completion of the pre-course questionnaire.
Qualifications: None. This course is not generally a standalone course, but may be taught with the coordination of another instructor who will complete the discipline training necessary to obtain an NRA Instructor certification.

Course Description: This course is a required prerequisite to all other NRA instructor courses. It is designed to teach the knowledge, skills and attitude necessary to conduct the NRA Basic Firearms Training courses. It is a basic educational psychology and teaching methods course that covers introducing a speaker, basic firearm training programs, using a training team, training materials and training aids, organizing a course and preparing to teach.
NOTE: This course is taught immediately prior to and in conjunction with, each discipline instructor course (Pistol instructor, rifle instructor, etc). It is not a stand alone course and must be taken in conjunction with a given discipline instructor course. The BIT must be repeated every 2 years if another discipline is to be added to your credentials. Within two years, the repetition of this course is at the discretion of the instructor teaching the discipline, and may be tested out.
Requirements: The passing of the course requires the passing of the NRA Trainer’s Examination with a score of 90% or higher.
